Savannah is doing well. She continues to work towards coming home. She is still at 26 mls. She is 15 3/4 inches tall. Her weight is not available the nurse is to weigh her around 2am. They attempted to wean her to 2 liters on the cannula but she was not ready so she remains at the 2.5 liters of oxygen.
I waited ALL day to see her. I had work, then a dentist appointment, then Baby Kevin's dinner/bath/play/bed, then waited for Kevin to get home so I could go see her. I made it to the NICU at 9:22. A whole 52 minutes too late to hold her. They coordinate kangaroo care with her feeding times so that she is not over stimulated or moved too much during the day. The more sleep she gets the better. Her feed was at 8:30 so the nurse did not want to interrupt her sleep at 9:22 when I got there because Savannah had just settled into a deep sleep. I understand the reasoning but I was still very upset. I tried to reason with her that I would hold Savannah until 11:30 (her next feed) so her sleep interruption would still be limited. I lost that debate.
I wish I could say that I took it well, but I didn't. I just sat there all teary eyed because it would be my first day in weeks to not hold her. It made it even harder because I got to observe all the other parents holding their babies. Savannah is the smallest one in her area so she has a lot more restrictions that the rest of her podmates. I watched as one parent put her baby down and picked her up several times- something that would be too much stimulation for Savannah. The nurse said I could hold her at 11:30 but there was no way that I could physically stay awake until 1am and then have to drive home. Once I hold her, I would have to hold her for at least 90 mins.
Anyways Savannah is doing good. Her mommy is just emotional.
Thank you for continuing to pray for Savannah and her friend. Her friend got some good lab results today- hopefully they can start weaning her off the IV fluids soon.
Here are the pictures from today. Not too many seeing I didn't get to hold her....lol oh I said that already didn't I?
The motivating view from Savannah's Isolette. She can see the exit sign and the door to home. Go Savannah GO! We're all cheering you on. I hope to carry you through those doors soon.
Can you see her? She's underneath the diaper. Normally the nurse will fold it over so that it's not halfway up her back.
Wide awake for Grandma's visit (before I arrived)

You are such a good Mommy!! I am very proud of you. Tomorrow will be more cuddly for you. Love you and sweet Savannah- Grandma
