Savannah has been moved to bed 11. I am so glad that I have her friend's mom. The mom texted me to let me know of the bed change. The funny thing is that everyone knows Savannah's isolette by her pink laundry bag. I had two other moms say that they noticed that the pink bag had moved. Otherwise, Nothing major has changed with her. The nurse said the move is due to staffing- yeah not really sure what that means. She is further away from the door now, but the good thing is that we were already friends with her new pod mate. We're also closer to her original pod mate/friend.
Savannah now weighs 3lbs 7oz! She is still at 26mls of milk- fortified to 30 calories. She is at 2.5 liters of oxygen on the cannula. They tried to wean her off the cannula again but she still is not ready for that change.
The number one question that I'm being asked is when can Savannah come home. She has to meet 4 major goals/milestones before she can come home. They are as follows:
1. Gain weight2. Maintain her body temperature3. Be off oxygen support4. Be able to take all of her feedings without a feeding tube
She has met 1 of the 4 so far. It is hard to say how long it will take for her to accomplish the other 3 goals. For now, we are told to expect her to be home close to her due date (Jan 15th) and anything sooner is a blessing.
I visited Savannah after work. I was told once I got there that I could hold her at 530. Well 530 came and went. I wasn't able to hold her because they were busy with another baby and a few new deliveries. I again did not handle it well. I knew that going back to work would be a sacrifice, but I did not expect it to be this hard. I'm still searching for a way to have all that I want. The nurse felt really bad. She continued to apologize over and over again that she was not able to make it possible for me to hold Savannah. I am grateful that Savannah is stable and did not need the extra attention.
I'll try again tomorrow. I know that God is in control. He has a plan for my family. He is continuing to take care of Savannah. I need to do a better job of trusting Him and finding peace in that.
Thank you for continuing to pray for Savannah. Her friend is still having problems with her feeds so please keep her in prayer as well.
Grandma showed up at the nicu while I was there. She delivered the desserts that Auntie made for the nurses to celebrate Savannah's 6 week birthday. She also was able to take some pictures for me today. Here are the pictures from today.
Her new bed and the identifying laundry bag that says this is Savannah's new home to all who know us. :)
Thankful for baby kisses in the absence of some quality Kangaroo care.
Hey sweet girl. I waited all day to see you!
What did you bring me mommy? She's trying to grab the bib from me.

Bummer on the hold. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteGood job Savannah. That's how to stop Mommy from drooling over you. ;) Such an adorable picture with the bib. :)
