Savannah is breathing on her own!!

She did it! She is 10 weeks + 1 day old today and she is now officially breathing on her own. I walked into the nicu today. I looked at her and first thing I thought was why is her check so red? Second thing I thought was wait I can see her check? Third- hello? the cannula is gone!!! lol no I'm not slow. This thought process happened pretty quickly. Her nurse said I thought you would be excited to see that. They took her off all oxygen support about 30 minutes ago. I looked at Kevin. He's not as expressive as me, but I'm sure he was happy too:)

The nicu mafia is officially educated about CPR. We (Kevin and I) all took a CPR class this afternoon. I pray I never need it, but we're (the mafia parents) all prepared if we should ever need it. The class lasted about an hour and covered all the basic infant safety concerns.

Savannah is starting to look chunky! She actually has a roll on her leg. I need to take a picture of this. It's so great to see her looking so good. They've been fortifying her milk to give her extra calories so out of curiosity I had my milk tested today. It was 28.3 calories. They're adding 7 calories to that. The calorie count can change of course throughout the day.

Savannah Stats:
Weight: 5 lbs 4oz
Feeds: 42 milks thickened with Simply Thick and fortified for extra calories
Breathing: NO OYXGEN!! :)
Medicine: Prevacid
oh more good news- her diaper rash has finally healed. The prescription strength diaper cream worked. She had her eye exam yesterday and her eyes are continuing to develop correctly. Another eye exam in 2 weeks.

I did attempt to breastfeed today. She did not even latch on so it was not successful. I think she may have been worn out from her eventful day. She is probably trying to adjust to breathing without assistance.

Please pray for Savannah to continue to breath on her own, for her reflux to go away, for fast breathing to decrease, for her to start feeding without the feeding tube and her overall development. Please pray for Savannah's BFF to progress, she is having some digestion problems and is still requiring transfusions due to low platelets. Baby N's homegoing has been postponed. They want his growth to trend up a little more before he goes home so please pray for that. His mom handled the news really well. She is at peace that it is all about Baby N and what is best for him.

And after being away for so long due to our sickness- we finally have pictures!! Not the greatest quality- I can't find my good camera. But yes we have pictures. It's so great to see her and hold her.

A cannula free Savannah
In mommy's arms. I was trying to capture her smiling. Look at that face- nothing but a feeding tube.
Check out all her hair! It's ready for all the hair bows :)
Do you see it? The bottom number is her oxygen saturation level. She was at 100%!! It did range from 90 to 100 but she stayed around a 100 for most of the time that I held her. I'm so proud of her!
