Savannah-First Photo Shoot

Wow!! How do I even begin this update? Should I start with a video of me dancing? lol today was great!!! so unexpected and just a reminder of God's faithfulness.

Savannah is now 3lbs 8ozs. She is still at 2.5 liters on the cannula. She moved up to 28mls on her feedings. She continues to digest her food perfectly. She is settling in to her new bed and enjoying her new neighbor- even though we still miss our friend! I do know the mom of her new neighbor so that works out perfectly because I now get text updates while I'm at work. I do the same for her when I'm up there.

So why am I so excited? Well the nurse felt so badly about yesterday and the fact that I did not get to hold Savannah. She thought of the perfect way to "make up" for yesterday. I got to the NICU this afternoon and she said so "Ms. Grant I am so sorry about yesterday but I have something that will make you smile. How about we bath Savannah? I told Savannah that mommy was coming to bathe her" For those of you who know me, bath time is one my favorites! I love it because it's a lot of interaction and you get to see your baby without tubes. I 've been missing out on baths because they do them at night. So I got to bathe her today. Savannah's friend's mom was on hand to take pictures for me. Savannah LOVED her bath! She did not cry. She almost seemed to be smiling. It was wonderful!

And it gets better! I have been trying to take a christmas photo of Savannah because I do not want to send Christmas cards without of a picture of her. I have had the professional pictures of the 3 of us- taken almost 2 weeks ago, but haven't done anything with them because it was missing Savannah's picture. I wanted to save the Christmas picture for a surprise for those on our Christmas mailing list- but I'm terrible with surprises and this was too cute not to share. Anyways Savannah had her first photo shoot. The nurse and I took 27 pictures!!! lol that's right 27 pictures of her with her Christmas attire. All the nurses stopped by to see Savannah all dressed up. She seemed to love all the attention. She did not desat the entire time! It was such a fun time. Side note: she still can't wear clothes but they allowed me to put clothes on her- just for the pictures. So the parade of clothes is still to come :)

And after all that fun- we ended it with me holding her for almost an hour! YAY!! It was so great to have her close to me again. She smelled like baby instead of hospital thanks to the johnson baby products from the bath.

The nurse also told me today- not to bring any more milk to the nicu for a while. I am to keep the milk at home because Savannah has FOUR full bins of milk. YAY! I struggled at first to provide enough for her. She even got some donor milk in the beginning. Thanks to a hospital grade pump, pumping every 2-3 hours (which is SO exhausting) and my friend Amy for helping get the pump at a discount- I now have a great supply for her. They say breast milk is like medicine for preemies so I am so blessed that I am able to provide it for her.

So thank you Lord for a great day!! I'm so very tired but I had to do this update.

Thank you for continuing to pray for Savannah and her friend. Her friend is still having some setbacks with feeding so please keep that in your prayers.

Here are the pictures from today.

Yes- that is one very happy mommy! My face hurt- yes it literally hurt- from all the smiling/laughing that I did! (Daddy missed out because he had class)
Savannah just stretched out and enjoyed the warm water.

Here is the sneak peak of her in her Christmas dress. It's a dress meant for a doll. Isn't she adorable?
Look at her face- no tubes! She is a little confused about the "naked" face :) She looked so good. I love seeing her without all the monitors.
Kangaroo Care- Settled her back down after all the activity.
