Savannah remains stable. Her weight is still 2lbs 3oz. The cause of her events remain unknown. The doctor has narrowed it down to a collapsing lung or an infection. They cannot say for sure until the blood cultures come back tomorrow. The doctor ( a different one from last night) opted not to do the echo because he did not hear the heart murmur and said all signs point to the lungs. I wish they had done the echo for my peace of mind. This doctor was not a favorite. He kept walking away assuming that the conversation was done. I had to say " I have a few more questions". Anyways he was obviously rushed. She remains on the bubble cpap at 6 liters. I spent a lot of my day at the NICU. She appeared to be breathing much better and the monitors were not beeping as much. The doctors plan to try weaning her off the oxygen again tomorrow and she how she does. They did say that I could Kangaroo carry her today but I opted not too. I think she just needed a day of rest. She is still very active- this is very encouraging because a sick baby would be lethargic.
To summarize the above ramblings. The good news is:
- She remains stable. They did not introduce anything new- no increased feeds etc.
- Her weight did not drop.
- Her stomach is almost back to normal ( a lot less bloated)
- Fewer desats today
- They considered her stable enough again to Kangaroo Carry
The following results are pending:
- Blood cultures- this to check for infection
- Another xray- to verify that her lungs are improving
A positive note is I loved her nurse today. She was nice and took the time to answer all of my questions. She also tried to give me as much hands on time as possible. I changed her diapers, massaged her head, and helped put new monitor probes on her.
Emotionally today was a better day for me. It helped to see her stable today. It also helped that Savannah's neighbor's mom took me to lunch so it was nice to talk to another preemie mom. I got a great surprise from Barbara- bill miller for dinner is always a bonus. It was nice not to cook. Lisa helped me out by making some cupcakes for Savannah's nurses. I figure we'll have a small 2 week celebration :) After visiting Savannah, we had a mini playdate with Hunter. Baby Kevin and Hunter are so cute to watch. They get along so well.
Also Savannah's neighbor is doing MUCH better so thanks for keeping Savannah's girl friend in your prayers.
Once again thanks for praying for us.
Here are some pictures from today.
Nice head massage. Wonder if she'll do my feet next. hmmmm
All snuggled back up after the massage
Vital signs check
Ok mom- no more pictures please. (see the hand is raised in protest :)

Glad to hear she remains stable, she looks really good, and beautiful, of course!
