Savannah Alicia
Born October 20,2010 @4:40pm
Weight: 2 lbs
Height: 13 5/8 inches
Gestational Age: 27 weeks 4 days
I developed HELLP syndrome again so Savannah had to be delivered by emergency c-section. I'll post her complete birth story once I am more coherent. The delivery was not as rushed or severe as it was with Baby Kevin. They were able to identify the early indicators of HELLP and intervene before it got as bad. My platelets are still low (45 when normal around 145) and my liver functions are still high. Today was the first day I was able to get off the bed since the c-section. I was excited to see Savannah. Despite being dizzy and in some pain, I was determined to make it to the NICU to visit her. Kevin had brought me pictures but that's obviously not the same.
Here is a picture of her from Day One- October 20th. She is on the bubble cpap to help her breathe.
Day Two- I'll get her some nice girly blankets once things settle down. These are the NICU blankets.
Day Three- She is under the bili lights so the pictures all appear to be blue. She is sporting the sunglasses.
Finally meeting Savannah. I did get to hear her cry in the OR- which was amazing!! But I didn't get to see her. I was really surprised to hear her cry. It was a very reassuring sign! I know I look so great huh?
I haven't touched her yet because her skin is so fragile so we (Kevin and I) have opted not to touch her yet. You can see my hand alongside her little bed.Savannah is doing really well considering everything. They did have a minor setback with her picc line and will be attempting that tomorrow. She currently weighs 1lb 8oz- a drop in birth weight is normal for all babies. She is currently "eating" 1cc of breastmilk every 12 hours. She has several hurdles and long nicu journey ahead of her. Please pray for protection against infection, for her lung development, her eye development and of course her overall growth. She has already proven to be a fighter and I know that God will carry our family through this.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers, calls, texts, FB posts, flowers, cards- we really do appreciate all the support and prayers that we have received. I will do my best to update as I'm able to do so. I am better but I'm still not a 100%.

Love you both and praying for you! :)
