First Experience with Rice Cereal

I had planned to introduce cereal on Wednesday when he turned 6 months but it didn't quite happen. Wednesday- I did not have time to go buy the bowls and spoons. Thursday- Daddy had a resident meeting so came home after bedtime. Friday- shots and a very fussy Baby Kevin so I figured it would not be wise to try something new. Saturday- Daddy came home after bedtime...another meeting. So that brings us to Sunday. It still wasn't the best timing for Daddy because it was during the Cowboys game but that is when Baby Kevin was hungry and it was an hour before bedtime so I couldn't delay it anymore.

Baby Kevin didn't seem to interested in it. He seemed unsure. Most of it ended up on his bib and clothes but he didn't hate it. It'll just take time for him to get the concept down. He pushed most of it back out with his tongue instead of swallowing it. Then he was distracted and wanted to smile at Daddy and suck his two fingers.

The pedi said to try it once a day for a month so we'll try again tomorrow. The pedi also prescribed some meds for reflux. We'll see if the meds help him any while I wait for him to seen by a GI specialist. The PT noticed that he is silently refluxing and thinks the reflux needs attention because it might be hindering his development because it prevents him from being on his tummy. He has a high pain tolerance so it is hard to say how bad it is so the GI specialist should be able to investigate further. Pedi also said the rice cereal might help the reflux....did not seem to make a difference tonight, but we'll see.

Good news is Baby Kevin is on the growth charts for his ACTUAL age. He is 15lbs 4oz. 23 1/2 inches tall. For height he is in the 5% and for weight he is in the 25% so we're definitely getting there. He's a little chunky man :)

Well here are the pictures...

Daddy found this odd angle to feed me in. It kept him out of the picture and allowed him to watch the game while feeding me.

I don't know about this food thing...but if you say it's good. I guess I'll try it.
This was taken on his 6 month birthday...sorry the pictures are out of order. I still am not used to my mac computer. I'm a PC girl it seems. Anyways this picture was taken at Oma's. She made the signs for him. My mom and Ashley are in Barbados until Nov. 1st.

Smiles for Oma. I just love my Oma and my new elmo bib that she bought me.
Mommy let me play with the spoon. Hmmm I think I still need some help.

What is Daddy doing? Multi tasking...lol we can still see the cowboys and feed me.

I'm trying to suck my fingers. I'm so over this cereal thing.
