Baby Kevin was born on our friend Israel's birthday. Baby Kevin's struggle inspired Israel to invent a new device to help preemies. He is the beginning stages of the process. Please pray for Israel and his team as they work to develop this device. It is not patented yet but the goal is to create this device to help relieve stress from the preemie's head.
While in the NICU, I worried a lot about positioning of his head. The NICU nurses educated me so I could help in preventing side preference. It is crucial that the baby is put in different positions to aid in their muscle development and to prevent future problems. Some preemies will end up in helmets to help mold their heads. Baby Kevin did not need a helmet but it was something that was a possibility. Even now we are working to improve his left side- he has physical therapy this Friday so I'm praying for a good report.
Please keep Israel and his project in your prayers. I believe if it is successful it could help a lot of preemies. I believe God is at work. Baby Kevin is the reason Israel became aware of this issue. I see how God is continuing to bring positive outcomes from such a difficult time. I just see so much potential.
