I was terrified for Kevin's life and mine. I remember praying non-stop that God would spare us both. I remember seeing a look that I never want to see again on my husband's face as he tried to be strong for us. On thursday, Kevin's celebrated his second birthday! God is awesome!!! Kevin is such a blessing to us and we are extremely grateful for God's miracles. My once little 3lb 5oz baby is now 26lbs and 33.1 inches! He is very talkative and social. He spent the day at grandma's house (while we worked- no vacation hours for us) and then Daddy, Savannah and I celebrated with a cupcake. A cupcake that was huge!! that Kevin purchased with the intention of smashing it in his son's face...nice. I know.
On wednesday, I took both kids to the doctor- all by myself..and we survived! Kevin behaved so well. He entertained himself with drumsticks (aka tongue depressers) and a drum (aka as the doctor's table). Kevin barely cried for his shots. Bandaids do really solve all. Savannah cried for the 2nd shot but not the first. Savannah is now 10lbs 13ozs and 21.5 inches.
Kevin is so protective and confident in himself already. We were watching tv and a baby on the tv cried. Kevin ran towards the carseat where Savannah was sleeping while saying "Nana crying...Nana crying". He was confused when he found her fast asleep. He is getting so much better when her. Today I bathed them at the same time- craziness I know. It was so cute because Savannah was smiling big at her brother. Kevin smiled back and then splashed her. I expected crying but nope she just smiled even bigger. I guess she's ready for games with her brother.
We have one last appearance for the March of Dimes. This one is for the news! It will be broadcasted during the morning show- please pray that it goes well! I got thank you email from the last speech- which I thought I had failed. The email was so encouraging and reminded me of why I've worked so hard and been so busy for the March for Babies. It really is important and my passion because it is directly linked to my kids.
Here is what the email said:
"Just wanted to send you both a HUGE THANK YOU for coming out and presenting at our quarterly town hall. We received some great feedback from our employees. I had a few employees come up to me after the town hall and said they were really moved by the story shared by Alicia. One employee even said, “I wasn’t planning on participating in the event, but after that, I HAVE TO.” I truly believe, if we can make a change in at least one person, then we have the ball rollin’ and the word will spread.."
Anyways there is still time to donate to the our team. Please visit us at www.marchforbabies.org/teambabykevin. Thank you to everyone who has already donated and to those that will be walking with us on May 7th!
