Fun at the Beach

Daddy Kevin using the laptop for school, our desktop computer slowing dying, 10 hour work days, the limited energy of pregnancy, the demise of my camera and of course spending evenings with Baby Kevin and then random prep work for the next day have all contributed to my neglect of the blog. I really do want to do better because I haven’t been able to scrapbook and this blog also doubles as a record keeping tool for me so I can document all of Baby Kevin’s achievements.

Good news! We have an answer for what has been causing Baby Kevin’s vomiting issues and speech delays. He had a modified swallow study done and they found that he triggers his swallow really late and has poor tongue coordination. I could give you all the doctor terms but basically, he needs speech therapy to help work on strengthening this area and giving him the tools he needs. It is a fix that doesn’t require surgery but will take time. I’m experiencing the joys (once again) of insurance paperwork, referrals etc, but we’re on the right track. In the mean time, we’ll just take a break from introducing table foods until he is ready. He is healthy and growing so it hasn’t affected his growth so that’s another positive.

Some fun facts about Baby Kevin:

He LOVES other kids his size. I’m trying to provide him more opportunities to interact with other kids because he enjoys it so much. He even shares his toys and snacks with them. I really hope he continues this trait! I also hope he shares this same enthusiasm for when he becomes a big brother.

Disclaimer: We do limit his “TV time” and avoid placing him in front of the TV However we have learned that he loves game shows like the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. He claps along with the audience and contestants and dances excitedly to the theme songs. It’s so cute to watch! I’ve tried catching it on camera but it hasn’t worked well so far because he then turns his attention towards the camera and I.

He likes to floss his teeth. He was watching me one day and walked over, sat down and then opened his mouth and waited for me to do his teeth (yep all 6 of them).

He’s learned to unlock his daddy’s Iphone. He used to be allowed to play with it but now that he can efficiently unlock it, his Iphone access has been denied.

He likes to help with the lotion. He sees the bottle and will walk over with his hands out so he can help me “lotion” him up after his bath.

He randomly will “run” ( I saw “run” because it’s not walking but he’s not quite running yet either) to me and crawl into my lap. He then hugs me, gives me a kiss and then returns to playing. It makes me feel so special.

He had his first trip to the beach and he loved it. He didn't hesitate. He went straight for the water! I 'm looking forward to showing him the better beaches likes the ones in Puerto Rico and Barbados! :)

Pregnancy Update:

I visit the doctor every 3- 4 weeks. They draw blood and do an ultrasound to check on the baby’s growth etc. I love getting to see the baby so often. This baby is VERY active which gives the techs some difficulty getting all the measurements. My belly bump is quickly expanding, but I’ve still been able to keep with Baby Kevin. Lately thoughts have wondered back to nursery décor and thoughts of two kids versus one. I’m very excited but still nervous of how everyone’s needs and schedules will mesh together. I should find out MONDAY the gender. I can’t wait!!! We have a boy’s name selected and are still working on the girl’s name. We’ll see Monday if I need to pursue girl names. Thank you for continuing to keep us in your prayers. I really am praying and hoping that this baby will stay inside until at least Christmas!

Til next time. Here are some pictures.

I promise he didn't learn this from me. Although sometimes I do feel like sticking my head in a bucket and yelling!

Hey Mommy! What are you doing inside the tunnel?
Leana and Kevin loved this tunnel. It comes with a tent too. Only $20 at Bed,Bath and Beyond. Baby Kevin gives it 5 stars. :)
"Cheese" yes this is his "cheese" face :)
He is taking after my brothers already. They're all computer "nerds" :) This is from the Witte.
The kids fell asleep on the way to the beach.

The dads got the shade setup while the kiddos slept.
This was Kevin's idea. It worked out great. The dads filling the kiddie pool with water.
The kids check out the "beach water".
He was too busy chasing after seaweed to pose for a picture with me.
Everyone taking cover under the shade. Kevin aka weatherman made sure we knew the heat index etc.

Daddy took him to see the beach for real- no more kiddie version! :)
I guess this is baby number #'s first beach trip too :) Baby was kicking a lot that day.
We finished out the day with a trip to Crab N for dinner. The moms and kids pose for a picture in front of Crab N.
