YAY!!! I'm five months old now!

My flash took long...the smile was long gone when the picture captured :)Baby Kevin is now five months old!! Kevin is making his transition to his nursery. He slept Friday night from 9:30 to 4am. Saturday and Sunday were not as good but he is getting there. I love my video monitor because it keeps me from making multiple trips. Now if I could only just sleep…I keep waking up to check on him. I have the monitor turned up really loud so there is no chance of me missing any problems he may have. Lol the sound of his breathing echoes throughout our master bedroom so I could probably turn the volume down a little. :)
Well this past week was definitely not the norm. Our house got burglarized on Tuesday. The thing that irritated me the most- they went through Baby Kevin’s nursery. Really? Why?? I guess they thought we would hide all our cash under his mattress….grrrrr! so I spent Friday washing all of his clothes and wiping everything down. I am really blessed to have Daddy Kevin. He doesn’t normally go home before me, but he did on Tuesday so he is the one that came home to a busted door. He is the one that filed the police report. He had to skip class so he could fix the door. He is handling all the paperwork etc. I am really glad that he made it home before me. I know it would have been a lot worse emotionally for me to see that first hand. I know I wouldn’t have entered the house. Kevin helped to brace me for it. I still don’t feel safe unless he is at home, but I know it’ll get better.

Since the break-in, I have had several dreams involving many different variations of the “dog story”. Let me explain the “dog story”. We have an ongoing story with our family. It’s the time mom saved us (Melody, Michelle and I) from a band of angry pit bulls. We were on our way to Stephanie’s apartment and these dogs rounded the corner. Our brave mom got down on her knees, ushered us behind her, stretched out her arms, and yelled at the dogs until they fled. Lol ok so the incident has several versions. I am not sure what the “real” version is!! J My sisters and I tease my mom that it was just one Chihuahua who simply wanted to say “hello” to the three pretty little girls. Throughout the years, we’ve done very dramatic reenactments- to which my mom always declares that she saved us and we need to stop being ungrateful. I don’t really remember much from that day. Bottom line: I’m sure there were at least 2 dogs. We did feel threatened. My mom protected us.
Baby Kevin makes appreciate my mom- not that I didn’t before, but now I better understand certain things. I know that I would do anything feasibly possible to keep him out of harm’s way. I am a normally passive person, but when it comes to him I’m more than willingly to step outside of my box. It’s amazing the effect that kids have on us parents. On a lighter note, Baby Kevin officially found his thumb so we’re trying to keep him from sucking it. He is persistent, but he will eventually give up. It is really cute- see picture below! but I know it’s not a good habit to form so we’re doing what we can to avoid that. J He hasn’t quite figured out how to isolate the thumb so his solution is the whole hand in his face!
He had a great PT appointment. He was wide awake and very alert. He “talked” and smiled to Jenny (the PT) the entire hour. She said he is right on track for his adjusted age. He still is not quite symmetrical. His left side is little weaker so he tends to only roll over on his left side. She gave us some exercises so we can work on this. However, it is all preventive- nothing to be concerned with it.
Anyways here are some pictures from this week.

In the mood for some seafood...just like my daddy
It was ONE dog and I dropped to my knee and extended my hands to protect:-)Not a pit bull:-) But yeah- for my girls- I will move the earth!!
ReplyDeleteBaby Kevin is such a joy and I love having him over.
Praying for your peace and comfort.
Love you,
Mom
